How can I help?

Thank you for considering becoming a volunteer at Listen to Me!™

Listen to Me (LTM) is an amazing experience for the children, family, and professional attendees, but the staff and volunteers happen to love it too! We can always use volunteers during our LTM week, which is usually the last week in June.

Anyone can help, but we especially love having students who are interested in working with this population. In fact, some of our previous volunteers are now part of our LTM staff!

Here are some of our volunteer positions available each year:

Listening & Spoken Language Classroom Assistant: Follow directions from lead teachers and assist as needed in the class for children with cochlear implants (providing language input, assisting with activities and crafts, helping children with transitions, clean up/set up). (Graduate students only).

Registration Attendant: Handling the check-in procedures for family and professional attendees, inform them of their room assignments, give them their name tags, information packets, and parking permits, answer questions.

Greeter: Greet/welcome guests, direct people to correct places, keep track of schedule.

General Assistant: Direct people to correct buildings, bring parents to their child's therapy sessions (keep track of schedule), check in regularly with classroom teachers and therapists to see if they need anything, communicate with program director regarding needs/questions from staff or participants.

Movers: Move furniture, carry boxes & other LTM materials from our storage unit to the truck, set things up at the LTM house, also take down and pack up everything at the end of the week.

Sibling Camp Assistant: Follow directions from lead teachers and assist as needed in the camp for siblings with typical hearing (activities, crafts, supervising nap time, calming crying children).

Most volunteers end up doing a combination of several of the above positions. We will work with your availability, experience, and interests to develop a schedule for you.

If you are interested in volunteering, email ltm@bakerinstituteforchildren.org.
